Nora is a special girl, said her rescuers from For Our Friends. She is a 7 year-old Border Collie / Black Lab mix that was found as a stray in Franklin Square. When For Our Friends had Nora spayed, it was discovered that she had mammary cancer.

Thanks to the financial support of Pet Peeves, the Long Island Cat Project was able to purchase much needed Veterinary supplies, and through the use of the Suffolk SPCA Mobile Spay/Neuter Van, the Long Island Cat Project launched an unstoppable spay/neuter community service adventure for feral and stray cats on Long Island.

Leon is a young white poodle mix who is today a very lucky boy, thanks to the financial support of Pet Peeves and his friends at Last Hope Rescue.

Wilma is a 2 year old pit bull mix that was rescued from the Freeport Shelter. After For Our Friends brought Wilma to a veterinary hospital, it was discovered that she was cage aggressive, so the hospital would not keep her as a boarder.

In July, All About Spay Neuter Inc., received a call about a cat (JayBee) that was lying under a car for four hours, dying. The caller was petrified of cats and would not attempt to help.

All About Spay Neuter Inc. was called by a woman who claimed that a cat (Miracle) that appeared to have been hit by a car was placed on her doorstep in a box.

Scarlett was one of 31 extremely sick kittens that were rescued from one block at the end of May. The street borders a golf course, which became a breeding ground for feral cats.

Butch is a 7 year Dutch Shepherd. For Our Friends found this beautiful Brindle fellow and rescued him from the Hempstead Shelter.

Maya is a very sweet, happy and affectionate Golden Retriever/ Chow Chowmix. She is spayed, fully vaccinated and healthy. Maya is looking for a family who will take her for walks, play ball with her and consider her a family member.

Mugsy, a year-old French Bulldog, as rescued by The Animal Lovers League after a caller alerted the group that, “a dog was dying in a crate at a neighbor’s house.”

There are times when people find the world caving in around them and things getting worse by the minute. Pip’s guardian, a young man of 35, was dying of AIDS. To make matters worse, he could no longer take care of Pip, his beloved companion of 12 years.

Patty the Pug’s human parent’s were elderly and ill health forced them to call on the Animal Lovers League for help. Patty had a few issues to work on before she was ready for adoption. Her elderly owners had never been able to properly housebreak her and she had not been spayed either. The group soon learned that you certainly can teach an “older” dog new tricks!

Maya the kitty somehow found her way through a hole in her pet guardian’s home and disappeared for a week. Frantic calls to the shelter for instructions on how to set the humane trap The Animal Lovers League loaned them, netted one very weak kitty who staggered when she walked after finally being caught.
