“If a man aspires towards a righteous life, his first act of abstinence is from injury to animals.”
Leo Tolstoy, Russian writer and social activist
Humane Education has been called one of the most revolutionary and effective efforts society can undertake to create a peaceful and just world. Humane education programs set the stage for vastly improving the welfare of some of the most vulnerable creatures among us.
Pet Peeves actively supports these programs by funding organizations that provide workshops, seminars and lectures geared to children and their families who own pets, are considering owning a pet, or have avoided pet ownership due to misconceptions or lack of information. By teaching children at an early age to appreciate animal life, we avert potential sociological problems later on, as studies confirm a strong correlation between childhood cruelty to animals and future antisocial and aggressive behavior in adulthood.
Humane Education programs promote a culture of empathy, compassion and respect for all living things.
